  | We met online in June of 2009. Both of us recently being out of relationships, we took things slowly. But it soon became apparent that we were each other's match. After meeting Robert's kids (David and Katie), and both sides of the family, we moved in together and solidified our bond. We became engaged at the end of October 2010, and can't wait to spend our lives together and build a new family!
We have diverse interests and are the perfect complements to each other. Julie is serious and focused, and Robert loves to let his inner kid out, so they balance each other out well! Both are students--Julie will be graduating from law school just after the wedding and before the reception, but will have to continue her studies to pass the bar exam. Robert is an electrical engineering major. | | Our wedding will be small and intimate. It is being held in a friend's backyard and will only involve immediate family and one or two friends. The ceremony is Thursday, May 12, 2011, at approximately 4pm. Julie, Robert, David and Katie will participate in the ceremony. The guests will be asked to join the family for a small dinner after the ceremony at a local restaurant.
We decided on this kind of wedding for several reasons. One, Julie is graduating from law school on that Saturday (May 14, 2011), so her family would already be in the area. Two, neither Julie nor Robert wanted a big wedding and the things that go with a bigger, more traditional ceremony. We wanted a small, intimate ceremony that would celebrate our bond without having to worry about a million little details. | | Our reception is Sunday, May 15, 2011. The reception will be fun and casual and hopefully provide an atmosphere of fun for all the guests! It will be held at a restaurant in Raleigh, where appetizers and soft drinks will be provided. More substantial food and alcohol will be available for guests to purchase as well.
We hope to do some of the more traditional reception ideas (gift log, favors, etc) while allowing for a less formal atmosphere and the ability of all the guests to mingle, relax, watch a baseball game, and just generally enjoy themselves!
The tentative time for the reception is around 12pm to 4pm, and guests are welcome to stop by at any time during that window of time. | | Guests will be traveling to Raleigh for the wedding and to the Brier Creek section of Raleigh for the dinner following the wedding. The airport is Raleigh/Durham International Airport (RDU) and has many hotels in all price ranges available close by. There are also car rentals available at the airport. Guests are encouraged to contact the bride or groom's family to see about carpooling and reserving hotels together. | | We are so thrilled that you will be joining us for this most special event in our lives!
Since this is a honeymoon registry, you probably want some details about our honeymoon:
We plan to take a cruise. We are not sure which cruise line yet, or our exact destination, but it will likely be Royal Caribbean or Carnival, and we will likely be sailing in the Caribbean (Eastern or Southern). We have not made formal arrangements yet--Julie has to spend a couple of months immediately after the wedding preparing for her bar exam, and by the time she takes it, it will be August, and not exactly the time one wants to travel to the hottest area of the world. So we will take our honeymoon a bit later, when job and school schedules permit, and when the weather will be more temperate.
We truly appreciate all of your gifts toward our honeymoon! We both had households before we moved in together, so we don't need many new things. Helping us afford our dream honeymoon is a gift beyond what you can imagine! We thank you so much for all your help and support! |
