Wow....the proposal!  Here is how it went down:

It was March or so of 2008 and I set up my DJ system at my work's "Aruba Networks Casino Night" function and it was a blast of a night.  As I was tearing the system down, Manav, on my co-workers, asked if I'd be interested DJing his wedding.  I thought..."hmmm...co-worker....ehhh..."  Then he said, "In Cabo San Lucas."

We worked out the details and I was FIRED UP!  I thought right away about Susy and my first vacation together.

About a day went by and I thought, "why the heck don't I just ask her to tie the knot?"  We've been dating for all of....9 months....but common....at this age...you know when things are good and what you want, right?

Sure enough, the ring details were worked out and the trip was purchased.

What thought was we were simply going, because I was DJing a wedding.

Now that the details are in place for DJing, the trip and the ring, I have to do my ordinarily odd ways and come up with a unique way of asking her to marry me.

So...I came up with this: while swimming with the dolphins, a dolphin can deliver the ring.  Seriously, that was it.  I had no idea how, but I was determined to "get errr done!"

After a few calls, it turns out a trainer will work with the dolphin and come up with something for us!  Ok...whew!  No idea still, but feeling decent that this may work.

So the plan is set...DJ the wedding on July 12th and propose on Sunday, July 13th, as we swim with the dolphins.

Fast forward to July 10th, as we depart to Cabo.  I am NERVOUS as can be, because the ring is in my backpack and we are going through security.  PLEEEEASE DON'T search my bag in front of her!!!  Sure enough, they didn't.  I'm sweating bullets, like I'm smuggling something...she still has no clue.

We had such a blast the first couple days, but I was still NERVOUS WRECK!  I told everyone there...the bartender, the concierge, the wedding party, etc!

We stayed at The Dreams Resort and it was beautiful.  Of course, I told reservations the story of what was to come, so they hooooooked us up with a honeymoon suite.  Susy just thought we got lucky.  Well, we kind of did.

The night of the wedding went well.  It was intimate, beautiful and elegant!  Susy was there the whole time, enjoying the wedding festivities, while everyone knew what was to come the next day.

After the entire wedding went in the pool and music was finally shut down at 3am, we got to bed fairly late, but were fired up to go "swimming with the dolphins."

The next day was a bright and beautiful day, as we grabbed a quick buffet.  I mean "quick," because we could NOT miss the shuttle to the dolphin site.  She later said I was a nervous wreck, but she thought it was because we were going to be late.

As we arrived, we checked in and I saw the ticketing agent reading notes.  At this time, I knew we were "in."  She looked up at me and winked, saying, "we will call ju right ober when we are ready."

We go sit down and I am a freaking mess at this point.  I have the ring in pocket and nerves are a rattling!

Not but 10 minutes later, an employee comes up to us and says, "Mr. Marks, we want to make sure you have the receipt, would you mind coming to get it?"

I went there and gave them the ring and they gave me the details....

After 4 tricks with the group, I was to stand up with Susy and give a hand signal for the dolphin to dive down and get the red tube, stuffed with cotton, rocks and THE RING!

Our video shows me still a nervous wreck and hoping the dolphin does not swallow it, bite us, etc!

After 4 tricks, I was supposed to give the signal command, but Susy did it, too, not knowing what was going on....

Up comes the dolphin with a red little tube in its mouth.  The trainer asks Susy to take it out of the mouth.  She did and unwrapped the tape....then gives the tube to the trainer.

The trainer said, "open it."  She looked at me....as she was opening it I went to the knee....

WALAAAAHHHH!  I do not remember what I said, but she said, "yes!"

There it tiz...."The Proposal."  The ring was brought up by dolphin.  So, if/when you see a dolphin at our wedding (top of cake), sculpture, etc., you now know the significance.

The rest is history....whew!
