| | Our story begins with the non-traditional way couples meet nowadays; online! After asking a coworker which dating site she seemed to find the most successful, I set up an account for myself and met a few people that were very nice, but were missing... something. A few days later I found Tim's profile, and something about his smile made me reach out to him. So glad I did! He was funny and smart, respectful and playful. It did not take long for us to agree to meet in person, and our first date was amazing.
We met at the duck pond in the Sonoma Plaza before walking over to the Sunflower Cafe for brunch. As we chatted over food, we discovered how much we had in common, and decided to catch a movie (Marvel's ANTMAN). To kill time, I gave him the 30 second tour of downtown Sonoma, including the Sonoma Barracks, the Sonoma Mission, the Bear Flag monument, the Toscano Hotel and Sonoma Cheese Factory (hey, free samples!)
We spent the day hitting local spots, having lunch at Happy Dog after playing miniature golf and walking around Maxwell Park. The date continued to the Community Center where I was stage managing a play. During intermission he informed me that while in high school he had been in band and had played during school musicals. He said that this was the first play he had seen since graduating high school, and had really enjoyed seeing live theatre again.
After such a successful day, it did not take long for us to make things official. I feel truly fortunate that I decided to try online dating despite the stigma usually associated with it. |
