John and I took a trip to Geneva, Switzerland in December of 2015 to visit his father for the Christmas holiday. It was my very first trip overseas, so it was already pretty memorable. On Christmas Day, his father drove us into France to a town on Lake Geneva called Yvoire. It's a medieval castle town, dating back to the 1300's. We came here because I'm a medieval history buff and I love old places like this. While we were exploring the town, we walked out onto a quay on the lake with the castle overlooking the waters and the surrounding countryside. John sat down next to me while I was taking photographs and said, "There's a lot of history in this place." I agreed and then he reached into his pocket and pulled out a ring box. He said, "I'd like to make history with you," and then he opened the box and asked, "Will you marry me?" I said yes of course, and he slipped the ring on my finger, a perfect fit for a perfect day.
